Principal's Message

Principal's Welcome Message- Ms. S. Palermo

Welcome to St. Mary Catholic Secondary School!

Ms. Palermo

As Principal of St. Mary, I am proud to serve a school community so deeply rooted in faith, academic excellence, and compassion. Since opening its doors in 1970, St. Mary has built a strong tradition of excellence in Catholic education. Since joining the Crusader family in September 2024, I have been moved by the strong sense of purpose that permeates every part of our school - faith filled education, student leadership, community service, and a genuine commitment to living our motto: Live. Love, Learn

St. Mary Catholic Secondary School has a rich history within the Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board. Known for its outstanding academic performance and vibrant extracurricular life, St. Mary has long upheld a reputation for excellence. Our students are consistently high-achieving, kind, and respectful, qualities that reflect the Catholic values at the heart of our school.

Our faith is not only practiced, it is lived. From daily prayer to school Masses and service projects, students are encouraged to grow spiritually and make meaningful connections between their faith and everyday life.

St. Mary continues to be a place where students thrive in all areas—academics, the arts, athletics, and leadership. Whether it's our exceptional performance in literacy and mathematics, the success of our robotics, rowing and business teams, or the creativity shown in student-led performances and artwork, our students are continually rising to meet the challenges of today’s world with integrity, innovation, and heart.

It is a true privilege to lead a school where students, staff, and families work together to create a welcoming and inspiring environment for all. I look forward to the journey ahead and to continuing to witness the many ways our community lives out the values of Catholic education.

Best of luck to our students along this magnificent journey and thank you for entrusting your children to our care.

Best wishes,

Ms. S. Palermo
